Wardrobe Change

(To the tune of “On Top Of Old Smokey“)

On top of Mt. Washmore,
Mid stockings and sleeves
I mixed up my laundry
With some bags of dead leaves.
I left those bags curbside
On that fateful day,
And watched till a truck came
And took them away.

I looked in my closet,
I searched on the floor,
Peered under my bed, and
I opened each drawer,
But all I had left were
Those old bags of leaves,
So now I’m stuck dressing
Like Adam and Eve.

Anna J. Arredondo fell in love with words as a child and has not stopped playing with them since. Over the years she has discovered that every aspect of life—from math and motherhood to the world at large—makes delightful fodder for creating poetry. She is an engineer by education, a home educator by choice, and by preference, a poet. A Pennsylvania native, she now resides with her husband and three children in Westminster, Colorado. Anna has poems published in The Lyric, Time of Singing, and The Society of Classical Poets.
