The Old Man in the Mirror

The old man in the mirror looks at me
And I at him, incredulous, to see
The harsh, unvarnished truth that mirrors tell
(Unsparing Father Time has worked his spell).
But there’s a happy ending to my tale:
The mirror still clouds up when I exhale.

Author’s note: This old man mourns the passing of contemporaries, friends, and Light luminaries Ed(mund) Conti and Joe (X. J.) Kennedy—to whom he dedicates this poem.

Bob McKenty has finally achieved his life’s ambition: to write more Shakespearean sonnets than Shakespeare. Admittedly, Bob had twice as long to do it, and only a fraction of his have been published.
