The Ginger Cat

The ginger cat is turning gray.
He’s grown too old and fat to care.
A mouse passed back and forth today
Unharmed beneath his torpid stare.

And then a frenzied jubilation
Spread throughout the yard and house.
A raucous rodent celebration
As good news spread by word of mouse.

Bruce McGuffin has been writing light poetry for years, despite the long-ago urgings of his high school English teacher to give it up. His poetry has appeared in Light, Lighten Up Online, Better Than Starbucks, The Journal of Humanistic Mathematics, Parody, and The Asses of Parnassus. His favorite comic strip is Pogo.
