One rationale for daylight saving time
is that we’ll spend more money if the Sun
sets late than if it gets up early. I’m
unsure why it’s called saving time if one
is meant to spend more bucks than otherwise
one would. I don’t see how that does us good
since there’s no likelihood our pay will rise
(though if we lose an hour’s sleep it should).
The simple truth is time makes little sense
unless we all agree what time it is—
but why not standard time forever hence?
Who cares if that upsets some bizness whiz
who’s positive we need more time to spend
and uses gimmicks hard to comprehend?
