He’s intellectual, but—how can I say this?—
ineffectual.
She says she won’t leave him for reasons sexual, but
in effect she will.

Cody Walker is the author of three poetry collections: The Trumpiad (2017), The Self-Styled No-Child (2016), and Shuffle and Breakdown (2008), all from Waywiser. His poems have appeared in The New York Times Magazine and The Best American Poetry; his essays have appeared online in The New Yorker and The Kenyon Review. He lives and teaches in Ann Arbor.
