Lunch at Lavrentiy’s Memorial Service
“Birria” was added as one of Merriam-Webster’s words of the year after birria tacos went viral among white people on social media, resulting in “The Birria Boom”
Remember that funeral? The KGB chief? Which they held back up north, in our hood?
And those tacos they served at the wake—so delicious—I’d never had tacos so good!
In that park—with the trees—and they gave us free beer!—It met all of my taco criteria,
that beery arboreal boreal barrio Beria burial birria.
The Brat and Wallace: A Lion’s Rebuttal
(With apologies to Marriott Edgar and Sterling Holloway)
You must understand—it’s provoking
Lyin’ there in that zoo year by year,
All the lambchops-on-legs gawking at you
Or poking their toys in yourear.
In my five-by-five cage by the seaside
I never had very much fun:
Nothing much in the way of good eating,
No savannah to roam on and run.
They serve the same slop from a bucket
For breakfast and supper and tea.
My ration-book’s nothing but vouchers
For mounds of old mincemeat garni.
So excuse if I seized the occasion
To emend a monotonous menu
By seizing the only ingredient
Afforded by chance and the venue.
Yes, taste was my main motivation:
I’m too tasteful to dine from a bucket,
Though the poking was also provoking
(And it weren’t my ear where he stuck it).
