Two-Facebook

Come here to send an Enemy Request;
upload an ugly photo of your ex;
cancel a classmate; disinvite a guest;
report a neighbor’s night of drunken sex.

With icons for Dislike, Abhor, and Hate;
emojis for What ev, F*** off, No duh,
you’ll find yourself well-stocked to stay up late
bingeing on anti-social media.

Because let’s face it: niceness makes us tired.
It’s hard to choke back every surge of pride.
You need somewhere to vent—no tact required!—
a platform for your inner Mr. Hyde.

David Southward teaches in the Honors College at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His collections include Bachelor’s Buttons (Kelsay Books 2020) and Apocrypha, a sonnet sequence based on the Gospels (Wipf & Stock 2018).
