Boring Dreams

I often dream I’m doing chores—
sorting laundry, cleaning floors.
Why can’t I dream of a little danger?
Spy adventures or sex with a stranger?
I don’t know how to teach my brain
to give a rest to the mundane.
Perhaps tonight when I go to bed
hot celebrities will fill my head.
More likely, though, in my dream-daze
I’ll end up filling ice cube trays.
