Buy Now, Save Never
When things go on sale,
I buy what I crave.
The more that I buy,
the more that I save.
But the more that I buy
means the more that I spend,
so the saving of money
is only pretend.
This feels like a trick
or a terrible joke.
I saved so much money,
I ended up broke.
House Arrest
The clock in the bedroom set off an alarm.
The coffee was mugged, and the sofa was armed.
The drapes were held up, and the oven was grilled.
The blankets took cover. The freezer just chilled.
The dishes were all in hot water, and plumbing
prevented the faucets and toilets from running.
The shelves had been booked, and the clothes were at large.
The windows were framed, and the phones were all charged.
Before very long, the whole house was condemned,
but only the doors got locked up in the end.
