The Properties of Gold

Despite a metallurgical truth,
Now that I’m getting long in the tooth,
Scuffs in my metaphorical varnish
Prove that the golden years do tarnish.

Pat D’Amico lives with her husband in Kirkland, Washington. She has had hundreds of poems published in The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, Light (both in print and online), Lighten Up Online, and Northwest Prime Time, a regional newspaper.
