L’Avant-garde

When wisdom is conventional
A black swan happens by
And by means not consensual
Plays Zeus. There comes a cry
From wisdom’s Leda, feather-strewn,
“Such penetration! Why,
Our Helen will make Paris swoon!”
And old conventions die.

Dan Campion has contributed verse to Light since its first issue. He has recent poems in Able Muse, After Hours, Blue Unicorn, Ekphrasis, Measure, The Midwest Quarterly, Parody, and the anthology Amethyst and Agate: Poems of Lake Superior.
