The Joy of Sheds
This morning a fat gray wood pigeon
slid down the pitched roof of my shed
as a red kite swooped overhead.
“Ah, this is the life!” he said.
Of such a moment
Issa or Master Basho
made timeless haiku—
but this is the best I can do.
